Its been 3 months now since we arrived and we still are unemployed. Most job openings are in the medical assistant field. It is in fact one of the many fast growing occupations all over the globe. The question there is for us to think is - What is a medical assistant? What does medical assistants do?

The reimbursement problems with insurance companies over the past decades has left one option for the physicians to do. And that is to reduce their staff. In many offices, nurses get eliminated all together. Assistant doctors were hired to fill this gap.

This creates a demand for a qualified staff, you can help your doctor with multiple functions. These rights include such things as registration, scheduling appointments and answering phones.

* They can also be trained to take vital signs (temperature, pressure, pulse, respiration), weight and measure patient and medical history or chief complaint information.
* Also can be trained to perform an electrocardiogram, draw simple dressing changes, get blood, and to assign patients to medical examinations, X-rays and treatment methods. And to keep the waiting room, examination rooms, contaminated materials and sterilization equipment.

Medical Assistants can be trained on the labor market, but now most of the training program comes from vocational schools or colleges. St. Augustine School of Medical Assistants offers this very competitive course for everyone.
